New to Stoat? Think of it like Discord, but open and independent.

Stoat (formerly Revolt) is a free, privacy-first platform with servers, text channels, voice rooms, and DMs. Yuki is the independent native iOS client designed to make using Stoat feel just as smooth, polished, and enjoyable on your iPhone as the best chat apps out there.

Highlights

Why you'll love Yuki

Calls that act like real phone calls

Calls show up on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island with mute and hang up controls. Incoming DM calls actually ring on your phone, and background audio never cuts out.

Turn down that one loud friend

Everyone has that friend whose microphone is way too loud. Yuki gives you individual volume sliders for each person in a call, so you can adjust them just for you.

One inbox for all your pings

Never lose track of where someone mentioned you. The Notification Centre collects all your @mentions and direct messages across every server into one clean feed.

Jump anywhere in a split second

Tap the search button or press Cmd-K to leap to any channel, friend, or server. Just type a couple of letters to match names and jump straight there.

Server audit log on mobile

Keep your community safe. Check a clear, chronological history of what changed in your server, from role permissions and channel updates to kicks and bans, straight from your phone.

Beautiful text & formula rendering

Enjoy rich markdown formatting with code blocks, spoilers, quotes, and role gradient colors. If someone writes a math equation, Yuki renders it cleanly instead of showing messy raw code.

Honest about the limits

Yuki is an independent community project. We believe in being transparent about what works, what doesn't, and why certain features are currently constrained on iOS.

Why are there no push notifications when the app is closed?

Stoat's push notification service is hardcoded to only sign notifications for Apple's Push Notification service (APNs) for the official app (chat.revolt.app). Apple requires push notification certificates to match the exact app certificate.

Because Yuki is an independent third-party client, it cannot receive Apple push notifications while completely closed. Yuki shows in-app banners and local notifications while it is open or running in the background.

Can I broadcast my screen or use home screen widgets?

You can watch other people's screen shares and share your iPhone camera, but you cannot start a screen broadcast or use home screen widgets yet.

Both Broadcast Extensions (for screen recording) and WidgetKit extensions require an active paid Apple Developer Account ($99/year) with app groups, which Yuki does not have at this stage.

What does "sideloaded" mean and do I have to refresh it?

Sideloading means installing an app directly onto your iPhone without using the App Store, using tools like AltStore, SideStore, or Sideloadly. No jailbreak is needed.

Apple allows anyone to install apps for free with a personal Apple ID, but limits the certificate to 7 days. When installed via AltStore or SideStore, the app is refreshed automatically in the background over local Wi-Fi.

Where should I report bugs or suggest features?

Yuki is an independent community project and is not affiliated with Stoat. If you encounter any bugs, please report them to the Yuki repository on GitHub rather than contacting Stoat support.
